TOPEKA - The No. 1 ranked Washburn Lady Blues improved to 20-0 and 9-0 in the MIAA with their 77-61 win over Truman State. The win was the 39th straight for the Lady Blues dating back to last season and they will look for No. 40 against Missouri Western on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Lee Arena.

Washburn shot 42 percent in the opening half on 15 of 36 shooting while holding the Bulldogs to 9 of 24 shooting. The Lady Blues opened up a lead as many as 12 in the first half before taking a 36-26 lead into the break. Washburn forced 14 turnovers for Truman while coughing up six of their own.

In the second half, both teams heated up from the field with the Lady Blues shooting 49 percent from the field and Truman improved to 44 percent, but it was not enough as the Lady Blues pushed its lead to as many as 24 at 71-47 before cruising to the 16-point win.

Washburn was led by Jennifer Harris who scored 14 of her game-high 27 in the second half. She was 11 of 19 from the field with four assists and three steals in 27 minutes of action. Brooke Ubelaker scored 18 points and Megan Sullivan scored 14. April Roadhouse tied a career-high with eight assists and no turnovers to go along with five steals.

Katie Fowler led three Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points.

Washburn turned 21 Bulldog turnovers into 32 points and scored more on the break topping Truman 14-0. Washburn collected a total of 38 rebounds with 18 coming on the offensive end.
