EMPORIA, Kan. - The No. 6 Washburn Lady Blues used a 20-0 run over 5:40 stretch in the second half turning a 53-52 lead into a 73-52 advantage leading to a 93-65 win over Cameron in the ESU/Candlewood Suites Classic. The win lifts the Lady Blues to 2-0 on the season and drops Cameron to 0-3. The same two teams will match up again on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Arena in the second game of the Premier Mortgage/AM 580 WIBW Holiday Classic.

The Lady Blues jumped out to an early 10-3 lead before the Lady Aggies would come back and knot the score at 10. Washburn would rally to take the lead pushing the margin to as many as 12 in the first half at 39-27 on a 3-pointer by Brooke Ubelaker before Cameron would again come back and the cut the lead to five at 43-38 on a 3-pointer at the buzzer by the Lady Aggies Megan Atkins.

Washburn lead at 53-46 before Cameron cut the lead to one at 53-52 before the Lady Blues would go on their run to put the game away.

Corkey Stiger led the Lady Blues with 17 points off the bench. Jessica Aebi and Amanda Holmes each scored 14. Holmes added 10 rebounds for her second double-double at Washburn. Ubelaker added 11 and Renata Germano scored 10.

Washburn shot 63 percent in the second half connecting on 20 of 32 attempts and finished the game with a 49 percent average.
