KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The No. 6 Washburn Lady Blues won their seventh
straight MIAA Postseason Tournament game while improving to 25-3 overall on the season advancing to the semifinals in a 78-53 win over Southwest Baptist. The Lady Blues will face the winner of the Emporia
State/Central Missouri match up at 8:15 p.m. Saturday night.

The Lady Blues shrugged off a sluggish start in the first half after
falling behind by as many as four three different times to eventually
build a lead at 28-22 with 1:28 left in the half taking the six point
lead into the break. The Lady Blues were 11 of 24 from the field, but
struggled behind the 3-point line connecting on only 1 of 12 attempts.
Washburn held Southwest Baptist to 9 of 27 shooting.

In the second half, SBU cut the lead to five at 30-25, 34 seconds into
the second half, but the Lady Blues used a 12-0 over the next 3:59
pushing the lead to 42-25 to put the game out of reach as SBU would not
get closer than 15 the rest of the way. With the score at 42-27,
Washburn ripped off another 21-6 run increasing the lead to 30 leading
to the 25-point win.

The Lady Blues warmed up to shoot 58 percent in the second half hitting
21 of 36 attempts. SBU's field goal percentage jumped to 39 percent
after hitting 11 of 28 attempts.

Washburn was led by Corkey Stiger who scored 19 points off the bench
hitting 9 of 14 from the field while collecting five assists with three
steals. Cindy Keeley scored 13 and Nikki Holmes scored 10. Amanda Holmes tied a career high with 13 rebounds just missing a double double with 9 points.

SBU was led by Livia Brito and Cortney Shewmaker who each scored 15.

* Washburn improved to 24-10 all-time against Southwest Baptist overall
and 5-1 against the Lady Bearcats in the MIAA Tournament.
* WU improved to 2-0 all-time in Kansas City against SBU in the MIAA
Tournament.
* Washburn is now 11-6 all-time in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament.
* Washburn improved to 11-1 all-time in games in Kansas City.
* Brooke Ubelaker start was her 129th of her career, tying the MIAA record.
* The four-year senior class of Brooke Ubelaker, Cindy Keeley, Megan
Sullivan, Holly Henrichs picked up their 118th win with only 11 losses.
