HOLLISTER, Mo. - The Washburn Ichabod golf team completed their perfect run through the MIAA this season running the table for the second time in three years winning the 2007 MIAA Championship. The title is the Ichabods fourth in the past five seasons.

Washburn golfer Matt Ewald, who already wrapped up the MIAA's Player of the Year honors, rallied from a two-shot deficit to take individual medalist honors after carding a 4-under 102 for the final 27 holes to finish with a 1-under 212 topping fellow Ichabod Matt Lazzo who has even on the afternoon to finish with a 1-over 214 placing him in second place. Ryan Deutsch recorded a 107 in the final 27 holes to finish 10-over par with a combined 223 to place in a tie for third. Rounding out the Ichabod scoring was John Robbins who finished in a tie for 12th place after signing for a 227 and Taylor Dunham finished in 24th place with a 22-over 235. Daniel Hersch finished in 19th place with an 18-over 231 playing as an individual.

Ewald's finish was the highest by an Ichabod at the MIAA Championship Tournament since WU's Chris McGown finished second in both the 2004 and 2005 tournament.

With the win, the Ichabods receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Central/Great Lakes Super Regional May 7-9 at Joplin's Twin Hills Country Club, which will be hosted by Missouri Southern.
