No. 19 Ichabod golf team finishes 8th in California, MIAA Tourney up next
(April 11) TURLOCK, Calif. - The Washburn Ichabod golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Buzzini/Stanislaus Invitational. The Ichabods were led by freshman Matt Ewald, who shot a three-round total of 5-over par 226. Ewald finished in a tie for 19th overall. John Robbins finished in a tie for 35th with a 9-over 230. The Ichabods will compete next week in the MIAA Championship Tournament in Blue Springs, Mo. April 17-18. The Ichabods have 23 points overall, trailing Missouri Western who has 25 points. Ichabods top-finishing MIAA school at MWSU Invite with 2nd place finish
(April 4) St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod golf team moved within two points of the top of the MIAA golf standings with only the MIAA Championship Tournament remaining with a second place finish at the Missouri Western Invitational Tournament. The Ichabods topped all of the MIAA schools at the event, trailing only Indian Hills Community College, to collect all seven points in the conference race giving them 23 for the season. Missouri Western, who finished eight strokes behind the Ichabods, lead the conference with 25 points. The Ichabods are looking to win their fourth straight MIAA championship. Jeremiah Nelson finished in a tie for fourth to lead the Ichabods with a even-par 143. John Robbins finished in a tie for eighth. Robbins, who was originally scheduled to play as an individual, replaced Matt Ewald, who became ill during the practice round of Sunday and withdrew from the event. Ichabod golfers finish 3rd at Fort Hays State Invite
(March 28) Hays, Kan. - The Ichabod golf team finished third after shooting a three-round total of 938 at the Fort Hays Stat Invitational. The Ichabods were led by Matt Warnock, who finished in a tie for second after shooting a three-round total of 228. The invitational, which counts this season as a MIAA event, was won by Central Missouri who shot a 289 in the final round to finish with a team total of 925. Missouri Western finished second with a team score of 926 followed by the Ichabods' 938. The Ichabods will be back in action April 3-4 at the Missouri Western Invite in St. Joseph, Mo. The Ichabods are in third place in the MIAA standings behind Central Missouri and Missouri Western each with 19 points. The Ichabods have 16 points with only the MWSU Invite and the MIAA Tournament, which finishing points are doubled for the final standings. The Ichabods have won three straight MIAA Championships. Ichabod golf team rallies to win North Alabama Classic
(March 14) Washburn fired a final round 310 to claim a six-stroke victory in the North Alabama Spring Classic. Washburn finished with a 624 total, followed by St. Edward's at 630 and Missouri Baptist at 631.The Ichabods were in third after the first day's action, but shot a 310 to finish +48 for the tournament. Tennessee State's Phillip Watkins took top individual honors with a 150 total, firing rounds of 71 and 79. The Ichabods were led by Matt Warnock and Ryan Deutsch who each finished tied for seventh with a +11 over 155. Box score

No. 10 golf finish 8th at Barry University Invite in spring opener
(March 7) The Ichabod golf team tied for eighth place at the Buccaneer Invitational that concluded Tuesday in Miami, Fla. It was the spring opener for the Ichabods. The Ichabods had a 54-hole team score of 41-over-par 905 to tie with Grand Canyon in the 15-team tournament. Lynn took first place at 6-over 870. (Oct. 11) WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Washburn golf team fired an even-par 284 to finish at 574 in third place at the Heart of America Golf Classic Monday. Central Missouri won the tournament at 564, while Missouri Western is in second at 569. John Robbins, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for second at 138 (67-71). Ichabods win share of Drury Golf Invitational

fired a 4-over 292 Tuesday to finish in a tie for first at 595 in the Drury/Deerfield Inn Fall Golf Classic at Highland Springs Country Club. The Ichabods tied with Central Oklahoma (300-295) at 595, while first round leader Cameron finished a shot back (294-302). Senior Jeremiah Nelson led the Ichabods with a 148 (76-72) to finish in seventh individually, while Taylor Dunham was 10th at 149 (74-75). Ichabod golfers win Northeastern State Tournament, Ewald wins too
(Sept. 27) MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The Washburn Ichabod golf team shot a combined 1-over 853 and won the Northeastern State Golf Classic by five shots over the host squad. Freshman Matt Ewald won the individual medalists title with a 7-under 206 for the 54-hole event. Ewald's score set a new tournament record for an individual and the team tottal of 1-over was also a new tournament record. Taylor Dunham finished in a tie for fifth with a 1-over 215. Ichabods finish second at Truman Bulldog Golf Classic
(Sept. 20) KIRKSVILLE, Mo -- The Washburn Ichabods finished second at the Truman State Bulldog Classic that wrapped up this afternoon. The Ichabods, the three-time defending MIAA Champions, finished nine shots behind Missouri Western. The Ichabods were +12 as a team. The Ichabods were led by first round-leader, freshman Matt Ewald, who shot a 2-under 140. Senior Jeremiah Nelson tied for the low round of the second day with a 2-under 69 leading to an overall score of 1-over 140. Nelson finished fifth. Ichabods finish seventh at CSUB Golf Invite
(Sept. 13) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Washburn Golf team finished seventh at 896 (+32) at the 36-hole California State-Bakersfield Fall Golf Invitational Tuesday at Bakersfield Country Club. The University of Arizona won the event with a 5-under 859. Washburn junior Taylor Dunham (Heston, Kan.) led Washburn with a 6-over 222 to finish in a tie for 19th to lead the Ichabods. McGown named Academic All-America
(June 27) Ichabod senior golfer Chris McGown was named to the 2004-05 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Men’s At-Large team that was recently released. (more)
