Lady Blues sweep SBU in regular season finale (April 24)

BOLIVAR Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 32-23 and ended the MIAA slate with an 8-10 record after sweeping Southwest Baptist. The Lady Blues won game one 3-0 behind a three-hit shutout by Joanne Fluker. Fluker was also the offensive star hitting a two-run homer in the first inning. In the second game, Fluker held the Bearcats to only four hits as Tiffany Whitt went 2-3 with 2 RBI and one run scored in a 4-0 win. In the second game, Dara Clouse became only the sixth Lady Blues in school hitsory to reach the 200-hit plateau for her career. The Lady Blues will be the No. 8 seed in the MIAA Tournament that starts on Friday. Lady Blues split games at Oklahoma City Invite (April 24)

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Washburn Lady Blues split a pair of games at the Oklahoma City Invitational topping William Woods 7-4 and falling to Evangel 5-4. Against William Woods, Dara Clouse was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and 1 RBI. Kala Huske was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and Joanne Fluker picked up her 20th win of the season. Against Evangel, the Lady Blues stranded 11 baserunners and Molly Gleisberg was 2 for 3 in the loss. Lady Blues swept by Griffons (April 21)

ST. JOSPEH, Mo. -The Washburn Lady Blues were swept by Missouri Western to fall to 29-22 overall and 6-10 in the MIAA. The Lady Blues have qualified for the MIAA Tournament April 30-May in Shawnee, Kan. at the Johnson County Girls Athletic Association. In game one, the Griffons broke open a scoreless game sending five runs across in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Blues Kala Huske picked up the only hit for the Washburn as she was driven in by Molly Gleisberg. In the second game, Washburn jumped out to a 6-4 lead after five and one-half innings, but the Griffons scored two in the sixth and Lindsey Predovich hit a walk-off home run to win it. Lady Blues split with Central Missouri (April 16)

TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues split a doubleheader with Central Missouri winning game one 4-3 and falling in the second game 4-2. In the first game, Joanne Fluker notched her 19th win of the season and Tiffany Whitt walked twice with the bases loaded as Washburn won the first game 4-3. After Central scored two in the top of the seventh, Fluker picked up the final out after the tying run reached second. In the second game, the Lady Blues fell behind 2-0 in the top of the third, but Dara Clouse tied the score with her sixth home run of the season. The Jennies scored two more in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good. On Saturday, the Lady Blues will honor Dara Clouse, Molly Gleisberg and Katie Schmidt as part of senior day festivities before the doubleheader against Truman State that starts at noon. Lady Blues pickup big sweep at Missouri Southern (April 14)

JOPLIN, Mo - The Washburn Lady Blues swept a doubleheader from Missouri Southern winning game one 3-2 and taking the nightcap 5-2. In the first game, the lady Blues jumped out to a 3-0 lead scoring two in the second and another in the third and held on as the Lions scored singles runs in the fourth and seventh. Joanne Fluker picked up her 18th win of the season as the Lions left the tying run on second in the bottom of the seventh as Fluker recorded the final out with a grounder. Katie Schmidt became the Lady Blues career leader in assists with her 351st of her career and Dara Clouse was 2 for 2 with two walks. In the second game, the Lady Blues fell behind 2-1, but scored three runs in the fifth with the help of Tiffany Whitt's two RBI double, who later scored on Molly Gleisberg's double. Lady Blues swept by Lady Miners (April 9)

ROLLA, Mo - The Washburn Lady Blues were swept in a doubleheader at Missouri-Rolla falling 7-0 and 5-4. In the first game, the Lady Blues went down 14 times as strikeout victims as pitcher Joanne Fluker picked up the only two hits for the Lady Blues, allowing three earned runs. In the nightcap, the Lady Blues let a 4-0 lead slip away in the sixth and seven innings falling 4-5. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Miners hit a bloop single to center to score the winning run as UMR scored three in the final frame. Dara Clouse was 2 for 4 in the game with two runs scored. Katie Schmidt moved within one assist of the all-time record at Washburn with 348 for her career. TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues split a doubleheader with Pittsburg State winning game one 3-0 and falling in the nightcap 13-4. In game one, Tiffany Whitt's three-run homer in the fifth game the lady Blues their only runs of the game and Joanne Fluker picked up her 17th win and her seventh shutout of the season striking out six. In the second game, the Gorillas scored all of their runs in two innings tallying seven in the second and six the seventh for a 13-4 win. Dara Clouse and Katie Schmidt each hit their fifth home run of the season. Schmidt also moved within four assists of breaking the school record of 349 held by former Lady Blue Carrie Kaberline. TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 25-14 as they shutout Lincoln 11-0 in game one and 8-0 in game two. In the first game, Joanne Fluker picked up her MIAA-tying 16th win along with her 18th complete-game and sixth shutout of the season as she held the Blue Tigers to two hits with five strike outs while going 1 for 3 at the plate scoring two runs and driving in one. Katie Schmidt was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and two runs scored and Dara Clouse was 3 for 4. Everyone in the Lady Blues' lineup had at least one base hit. In the second game, Tiffany Whitt broke up a scoreless game in the third with a three-run homer. The Lady Blues added four in the fourth and a solo run in the fifth for the win. In the first game, the Lady Blues scored all three runs in the third inning capped by Dara Clouse's two-run homer. Joanne Fluker picked up her 15th win of the season striking out six. In the second game, the Bearcats scored three in the first, but the Lady Blues regained the lead at 4-3 before Northwest scored two in the fifth and three more in the seventh for the 8-5 win. EMPORIA, Kan. - The Washburn Lady Blues split their first MIAA doubleheader of the season with Emporia State falling in the first game 5-4 and coming back to win the nightcap 10-7. In game one, the Hornets scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the comeback win. Molly Gleisberg was 2 for 3 with an RBI. In game two, ESU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Lady Blues scored six in the third inning capped by Katie Schmidt's grandslam. After the Hornets tied the score after four innings, Kala Huske broke the tie with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth and Joanne Fluker pitched three two-thirds to close out the game. Lady Blues softball team finishes 2nd at MSSU Tourney (March 14)

JOPLIN, Mo - The Washburn Lady Blues went 3-2 at the Missouri Southern Invitational falling to Missouri Southern 4-3, before rolling off three straight wins over Augustana 6-1, 7-4 over Missouri-St. Louis and 1-0 over Northwest Missouri. The Lady Blues fell to eventual champion Oklahoma City 2-0, who swept through the event. Lady Blues season ends at MIAA Tournament (May 2)

The Lady Blues were the No. 2 seed in the tournament and fell to the No. 7 seed, Missouri Western. 5-0. The Lady Blues had three errors leading to three unearned runs for the Griffons.
