 Ichabods season ends at regional Senior Ichabod golfer Matt Warnock wrapped up his Washburn career at the NCAA Regional as one of only two Ichabod golfers to compete in four NCAA Regional Tournaments. He has played in 119 rounds of golf as an Ichabod with 9,007 shots for a stroke average of 75.7 for his career.  Ichabod golf season ends with 2nd place finish at NCAA Regional (May 3) The Washburn Ichabods finished in second place behind a red-hot Winona State team in the final round of the NCAA Central Regional Championships at Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Lockport, Ill. The Ichabods were even on the day, but could not keep up with Winona State, who shot a combined 9-under 279, a 19-stroke improvement on their second round. The Ichabods finished the day with a 288 and 8-over for the tournament. The Ichabods were nine shots better than the third place finishing Central Missouri State squad who were 17-over for the 54-hole event. Senior Jeremiah Nelson finished out his Washburn career with a 73 for the final round and was 2-over for the regional, finishing in a tie for sixth place with a 218. Freshman Matt Ewald shot the lowest round for any Ichabod at the regional with a 3-under 69 and finished eighth overall with a 3-over 219. Sophomore Ryan Deutsch finished in a tie for ninth shooting a 4-over 220 over three days. He wrapped up his third round with a 1-over 73. Junior Taylor Dunham finished 12th overall with a 5-over 221, shooting a 73 in the final round and senior Matt Warnock finished his four-year Ichabod career in a tie for 17th carding a 225, which was 9-over. Warnock is the only the second Ichabod to appear in four NCAA regional tournaments. The Ichabod golfer of the Year goes to Matt Ewald after recording a 74.5 stroke average in his first season of collegiate golf.
