Washburn volleyball head coach Chris Herron announced the addition of five players that will join the Washburn volleyball team for the 2004 season. Anna Byers from Beattie, Kan., Becky Kipper from Spokane, Mo., Monica Miesner from Florissant, Mo., Ashley Reider from Lansing, Kan. and Jamie Sleichter from Carbondale, Kan. will be on the Washburn volleyball roster next fall.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dani McHenry, who earned first team All-South Central Region honors, named to the honorable mention All-American team by the AVCA. She becomes the first Washburn player ever to earn All-American honors in volleyball. McHenry was also named to the All-MIAA first team in November.

EMPORIA - The No. 25 Washburn Lady Blues fell 30-25,
30-25, 21-30, 30-26 to Emporia State in the opening round of the
MIAA Volleyball Tournament Tuesday night. Dani McHenry led the Lady
Blues with 23 kills and added 14 digs. Anna Neufeld and Susan Crooks
added 12 and 11 kills, while Alecia Barron had a team-high 15 digs.
Washburn finished the season 26-10, while Emporia improved to 20-13.

Week for 2nd time (Sept. 9)
OVERLAND PARK, KAN. - Dani McHenry, a 6-foot-0 junior
from Topeka, Kan., hit .465 (71 kills, 12 errors, 127 attempts)
and averaged 3.94 kills, 2.44 digs and 0.89 blocks per game as the
Lady Blues posted a 4-1 mark last week. She hit .700 (15-1-20) with
five blocks and two aces in a home sweep of Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday
(Sept. 3). At the Nebraska-Omaha Tournament, McHenry hit .611 (11-0-18)
with two aces, two block assists, six assists and 12 digs Friday
(Sept. 5) against Colorado Christian. The next day against Christian
Brothers (Tenn.), she hit .517 (17-2-29) with three aces, three
blocks (one solo) and seven digs. McHenry is a graduate of Tecumseh
(Kan.)-Shawnee Heights High School, and transferred to WU from the
University of Kansas following her freshman season.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The No. 24 ranked Washburn Lady
Blues went undefeated in San Antonio topping Concordia-St. Paul
3-2 and host school St. Mary's 3-2 to open the first weekend of
the season 4-0. Against Concordia, the Lady Blues were led by Dani
McHenry who had 21 kills. She also had 14 digs in the match. Anna
Neufeld had 17 kills with no errrors in 43 attempts and Callie Bjelland
had 31 assists. Against the Lady Rattlers, McHenry had 15 kills
to pace the Lady Blues. Susan Crooks added 13. The Lady Blues return

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The No. 24 ranked Washburn Lady
Blues opened the 2003 season with a 3-0 win over Rollins with game
scores of 30-20, 30-15, 30-16. Senior Susan Crooks and junior Dani
McHenry led the Lady Blues with nine kills in the match. Sophomore
Callie Bjelland had 16 assists in the match. In the second match
of the evening, the Lady Blues topped No. 17 tanked Northwood University
