
Ichabods announce 2004 signees (Feb. 5)
Ichabod head football coach Craig Schurig has announced his third signing class as Washburn signed 15 high school recruits to National Letter of Intents and five mid-semester transfers.
Eric Taylor named second team Academic All-America (Dec. 2)
TOPEKA - Washburn Ichabod senior defensive lineman Eric Taylor has been to the 2003 Academic All-America College Division Football Second Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Taylor has a 3.8 GPA in marketing and finance. Taylor is the first Ichabod since Aaron Doonan received second team honors in 1999.
Overland Park, Kan. - The Washburn Ichabods' Trent Hearn was named both co-Freshman of the Year in the MIAA and second team all-conference along with senior offensive lineman Tim Watts as the MIAA announced its all-league team this afternoon in a vote of the MIAA's coaches.
Odupitan named Special Teams Player of the Week (Nov. 18)

Mike Odupitan, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound sophomore from Lake Worth, Fla., became just the third Ichabod ever to return a kickoff for a touchdown in WU's 38-35 win over Missouri Southern. His return came after Southern had drawn to within seven points, 21-14, in the third quarter. Odupitan raced 89 yards to paydirt and return the advantage to 14 points with 6:39 left in the period. He also finished with five catches for 89 yards and 4 yards on three rushing attempts. Odupitan is a graduate of Lake Worth High School.
TOPEKA, Kan. - The Washburn Ichabods won their first regular season finale since 1994 and topped Missouri Southern 38-35 in the final game of the 2003 season. The Ichabods finished the season with a 5-6 record and 3-6 in MIAA play in a two-game improvement in the win column from 2002. ST. JOSEPH, MO. - The Washburn Ichabods fell 30-14
in their final road game of the season to the Missouri Western State
College Griffons. With the loss, the Ichabods fall to 4-6 and 2-6
in the MIAA with Missouri Southern coming to town next Saturday
for a 1 p.m. kickoff. It will be the final home game for 16 Ichabod
seniors who will be honored before the game. Box

quarter to pull away from Missouri-Rolla in a 49-24 homecoming win.
The Ichabods scored the 21 points in a 5:50 span in the fourth quarter

Taylor named Wilson/MIAA Defensive POW
(Sept. 16)
OVERLAND PARK, KAN. - Eric Taylor, a 6-foot-0, 240-pound
senior from Richardson, Texas, posted 10 tackles and returned a
fumble for a touchdown as the WU defense held its opponent's offense
scoreless for the second time in as many weeks during a 28-4 Ichabods
win. He had four solo stops, and also logged two tackles for losses
totalling 3 yards. His fumble return put WU up 28-2 in the fourth
quarter. Taylor is a graduate of L.V. Berkner High School. Taylor
is the second straight Ichabod to receive the Player of the Week
Honors after Joe Corcoran received the award last week.

Corcoran named Co-Wilson/MIAA Defensive
Player of the Week (Sept. 9)
OVERLAND PARK, KAN - Joe Corcoran, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound
junior from Lecompton, Kan., posted nine tackles and two interceptions
with a fumble recovery as Washburn blanked Langston (Okla.), 28-0,
last Saturday (Sept. 6). He returned the interceptions a total of
32 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown run in the second quarter
to give WU a 21-0 lead. Corcoran is a graduate of Perry (Kan.)-Lecompton
High School.

Guthrie, Okla. - The Washburn Ichabods opened the
2003 football season with a 28-0 victory over Langston University
Saturday night. It was the first non-conference shutout for the
Ichabods since Sept. 9, 1996 when Washburn beat McPherson 61-0.

open on the road road in Guthrie, Okla. against the Langston Lions.
The Ichabods and the Lions have not played since the season-opener
