Lady Blues soccer team inks four newcomers

Lady Blues soccer team places 11 on MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll
(Dec. 6) Overland Park, Kan. - The Washburn Lady Blues Soccer team had 11 student-athletes named to the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. The Lady Blues finished the season 5-11-3 and in fifth place in the MIAA in their second season of action. Those named to the team were Laura Barnaby, Virginia Barnes, Stephanie Buregger, Anna Fahey, Amanda Geist, Deidre Gorynski, Meagan Horvath, Erica Painting, Erica Schmidt, Celese Siebert and Jolene Silovsky. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility and have a 3.0 GPA, while completing at least two semesters of attendance.
Lady Blues place two on MIAA Second team
(Nov. 10) The Lady Blues had two players named to the All-MIAA Second Team that was announced today. Sophomore Meagan Horvath was named as a defender and sophomore Lauren Schwindt was named as a forward. The Lady Blues also had two named to the honorable mention squad as well in sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hatlestad and sophomore forward Jenna Lawless.
Lady Blues fall in season finale
(Nov. 2) TOPEKA - The Washburn soccer team fell 2-0 in its regular season finale to Emporia State Sunday at the WU Soccer Complex. Brandie Booth scored both goals for ESU, including a shot into the right corner of the goal just 47 seconds into the game. Washburn finshed the season with a 5-11-3 overall and 3-9-2 MIAA record. Lady Blues drop match to SBU
(Nov. 7 ) KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues fell to 5-10-3 and 3-8-2 in the MIAA with a 3-0 loss to No. 12 Southwest Baptist Tuesday night at the Rockhurst Soccer Complex. SBU's Ashley Munnelly scored two goals and Victoria Bright added a third as SBU improved to 15-1-2 and 11-0-1 in the MIAA. Lady Blues fall in rain-shortened game with Bronchos
(Oct. 10) EDMOND, Okla. - The Washburn Lady Blues Soccer team fell 3-0 to Central Oklahoma in a 70-minute rain-shortened game Sunday afternoon. Lady Blues tie Midwestern State in double overtime
(Oct. 8) EDMOND, Okla. - The Washburn Lady Blues picked up a 1-1 tie with Midwestern State in Edmond, Okla. The Lady Blues fell behind 1-0 in the 61st minute, but Lauren Schwindt tied the match with her third goal of the season off an assist from Jolene Silovksy. Jenna Hatledstad had nine saves in the match. The Lady Blues' record went to 3-7-2 and Midwestern state went to 7-3-3. The Lady Blues will take on Central Oklahoma on Sunday at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Lady Blues fall at ESU
(Oct. 6) EMPORIA, Kan. - The Washburn Lady Blues fell 4-3 to Emporia State Wednesday night. Lauren Schwindt got WU on the board 12:44 into the match with a goal, while Meagan Horvath made it a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick 20 minutes in. Lady Blues fall at MSSU
(Oct. 2) JOPLIN, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues fell 3-1 to Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon. Jenna Lawless tied the match with 26:19 left on her sixth goal of the season on a pass from Lauren Schwindt. Southern took the lead for good on a penalty kick with 18:11 left. Lady Blues tie Missouri-Rolla in double overtime
(Oct. 1) ROLLA, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues tied the Missouri-Rolla Lady Miners in double overtime by a score of 2-2 in the first game of their six-game roadtrip. Both of the Lady Blues goals were scored by Jenna Lawless who has scored four goals in the last two games. The tie lifted the Lady Blues' record to 3-5-1 overall and 1-4-1 in MIAA play. Lady Blues blanked by No. 16 Mavericks
(Sept. 26) TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 16 ranked Nebraska-Omaha at the Washburn Soccer Complex. The Lady Blues kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard until Beth McGill scored on a penalty kick in the 32nd mintue for the game-winner. The Lady Blues were outshot 29 to 8 in the game. (Sept. 24) TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues fell to 2-4 and 0-4 in MIAA play as they were shutout by No. 24 ranked Southwest Baptist 4-0 on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats jumped on the scoreboard just over seven minutes into the match and nevered looked back. The Lady Blues were outshot 24 to 7. Lady Blues soccer falls in overtime, sets attendance mark
(Sept. 10) The Washburn Lady Blues fell 1-0 in overtime to Missouri Southern, but still set the NCAA Division II record for single-game attendance with 1,848. The Lions' Tera Resiner scored the "Golden Goal" with :47 left in the first overtime. The Lions outshot the Lady Blues 18-11, including a 4-0 advantage in overtime. Lady Blues soccer team picks up win in opener
(Sept. 5) The Washburn Lady Blues opened their 2004 season with a 4-2 win over regional foe Southwest Minnesota State at the Washburn Soccer Complex. The Lady Blues will take on Benedictine on Sept. 8 in Atchison before returning home on Fri., Sept. 10 when they open their MIAA schedule against Missouri Southern. Lady Blues set for "Set the Record Night" on Sept. 10 (Sept. 2)
TOPEKA - The Washburn women's soccer program will attempt to break the NCAA Division II regular season attendance record 5 p.m. Sept. 10 against Missouri Southern. The Lady Blues plan to host over 2,000 fans in the conference opening match at the Washburn Soccer Complex. The current record of 1,820 fans is held by MIAA rival Emporia State. Lady Blues soccer team picked 8th in coaches poll (Aug. 4)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues were picked 8th in the MIAA Coaches Poll that was released today. The Lady Blues are in their second year of existance and finished the season 4-13-1 last year. The Lady Blues open the season on Sept. 5 against Southwest Minnesota State on the Washburn Soccer Field.
