(April 4) BOSTON, Mass. -- Washburn’s Jennifer Harris, the 2005-06 WBCA/State Farm Division II Player of the Year and MIAA Most Valuable Player, became the conference’s first player selected in the Women’s National Basketball Association Draft when she went in the second round as the 20th overall pick to the expansion Chicago Sky. Harris picks up 3rd National Player of the Year Award, Ubelaker HM
(March 27) The Lady Blues' Jennifer Harris was picked up her third National Player of the Year Award after the Women’s Division II Bulletin tabbed her for the honor. Harris also received the Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball All-America team selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year as well. Harris will take part in the "Night of Stars" at the NCAA Division I Final Four on Saturday, April 1. The top 20 senior collegiate players in women’s basketball not playing in the NCAA Women’s Final Four will showcase their talents at Matthews Arena on Northeastern University’s campus. Harris is the second Lady Blue to play in the event as Crystal Walker played in the 2003 event in Atlanta. Harris led the Lady Blues and NCAA Division II in scoring at 24.2 points per game. She was named the player of the year in both the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the South Central Region. Junior Brooke Ubelaker received D2 Bulletin Honorable Mention All-America honors, following up her honorable mention selection by the Daktronics, Inc.,/CoSIDA team. Ubelaker finished second on the Lady Blues in scoring with a 16.6 ppg scoring average and snapped the Washburn single season 3-point record ending the season with 71 passing the previous record of 62. For her career, Ubelaker has 144 3-pointers needing only one next season to set the school's single season record. Ubelaker was a unanimous first team All-MIAA pick and was named to the MIAA's All-Tournament Team and a first team All-South Central Region pick on the Daktronics All-Region squad and to the NCAA All-South Central Regional Tournament Team. She has 1,341 points, which is eighth on the Washburn all-time career chart, needing 16 points to move into the top six all-time. She is 11th on the all-time rebounding chart at Washburn with 561 for her career.

Harris was named on 97 percent of the national ballots. Lady Blues dream season ends with loss to Emporia State
(March 13) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Lady Blues had their dream season end with a 61-59 heartbreaking overtime loss to Emporia State. Washburn was led by Jennifer Harris who scored 32 points. Junior forward Casey Henningsen scored 25 of her 27 points after halftime, including the game-winning bucket in overtime, as No. 8 Emporia State handed No. 1 Washburn its first loss in 52 games, in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball South Central Regional final Monday night (March 13) at Lee Arena. No. 1 Lady Blues open NCAA Tournament with Lady Rattlers
(March 8) The No. 1 ranked Washburn Lady Blues will face the St. Mary’s University Lady Rattlers in their opening game of the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. The Lady Blues are the defending national champions and have gone 30-0 this season winning their last 49 games, tying the NCAA Division II record. With a win over St. Mary’s, the No. 8 seeded team in the South Central Regional, the Lady Blues will own the record by themselves. The Lady Rattlers are 17-12 this season and received the Heartland Conference’s automatic bid by winning their postseason conference tournament. St. Mary’s entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed, but topped the No. 2 seeded St. Edward’s squad 63-59 and then topped fourth seeded Oklahoma Panhandle 69-64. (Nov. 18) JOPLIN, Mo. – The No. 1 Washburn Lady Blues basketball team cruised to a 92-40 win over Southwest Oklahoma State in the MSSU Pizza Hut/Fairfield Inn Classic in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center Saturday. Lady Blues ink Gregory in early basketball signing period
(Nov. 10) Washburn women's basketball coach Ron McHenry announced the signing of Milton, Kan. native Hope Gregory to a letter of intent in the early signing period. Gregory, a 5-10 guard from Cheney High School, is a three-time first team all-league and all-state selection. She had averaged 14.3 points, 8.3 rebound, 2.7 assists and 2.8 steals in her first three seasons. As a junior last season she averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.7 steals a game to earn all-league, and first team all-state honors to help the squad to a runner-up finish at Sub-State.
Lady Blues snag top spot in WBCA Division II Preseason Top 25 Poll
(Nov. 8) The Washburn women's basketball team, which won the NCAA Division II national title with a 35-2 record in 2005, was ranked No. 1 in the WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll released Tuesday. Washburn, which returns three starters from last season's squad and is also the preseason favorite in the MIAA Poll, will host UMKC in an exhibition 4 p.m. Sunday in Lee Arena. Lady Blues drop exhibition with Ichabod Golfers 76-63
(Nov. 4 ) TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues, defending NCAA Division II Champions, lost their exhibition opener 76-63 to the Washburn Ichabod golf team Friday night in Lee Arena. Jennifer Harris led the Lady Blues with 13 points, while Stephanie Wittman had nine points off the bench. Scott Wempe led the Ichabod Golfers with 16 points. Lady Blues tabbed first in MIAA basketball coaches poll
(Nov. 2 ) KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues basketball team, the 2004-05 NCAA Division II National champions, were tabbed first in the MIAA Coaches Poll at MIAA Media Day Wednesday. The Lady Blues received 61 points (six first place votes) in the poll and were followed by Emporia State with 56 points, Central Missouri State with 51 and Missourui Western with 45 points. Lady Blues ranked second in DII Bulletin Poll
(Oct. 19) The Washburn women's basketball team was ranked No. 2 in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released by the DII Bulletin. The Lady Blues, which won the school's first-ever NCAA title with a 35-2 record and won a third straight MIAA title in 2004-05, return three starters from last year's squad.
Lady Blues add three to incoming hoops class
(May 23) Washburn women's basketball coach Ron McHenry announced the addition of three players that will join the squad in 2005-06. Transfers Jessica Aebi of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Amanda Holmes from Texas Christian University and Bojana Samardziska from the University of Nebraska will join the Lady Blues next fall.
