SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The No. 13 Washburn Lady Blues fell 67-55 to host No. 2 Drury in the semifinals of the South Central Region Saturday night. Washburn finished the season 26-5 despite having one lone senior (Montoya Whitfield) on the squad and won a regular season MIAA title. Duarnt, Okla. - The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 2-0 this season with an 82-55 route over Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Lady Blues trailed at 2-0, but led the rest of the game building a 37-18 halftime lead. In the second half, the Lady Blues would increase the lead to as many as 31 points. The Washburn Lady Blues were ranked No. 13 in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll, which was releasedy by the WBCA Friday. The Lady Blues finished the 2002-03 season ranked No. 6 after reaching the Elite Eight with a 30-4 record. Washburn opened its exhibition season with a 73-51 loss to Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. The Washburn women's basketball team opens the 2003-04 season with an exhibition game at Kansas State University Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Blues finished with a 30-4 record last season after falling in the first round of the Elite Eight. Washburn University head womenÕs basketball coach Ron McHenry has announced that Dustin Odum has been promoted to full-time assistant after spending the past season as a restricted earnings coach. Odum spent the past season as an assistant for the Lady Blues, helping the team to a 30-4 record.

Sullivan added to Lady Blue hoops class (May 16)

Washburn Logo Washburn women's basketball coach Ron McHenry has announced that Spring Hill High School standout Megan Sullivan will join the Lady Blues next season. Sullivan, a 6-1 center from Spring Hill, Kan., averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds a game as a high school senior last season.
